Looks like the craziness with Warner Brothers is also starting to affect Black Lotus. Too bad.

Sad that Raised By Wolves had to be cancelled. But at least his hands will now be freer once he's done with Napoleon.
White blank I mean.
@CarverSindile You mean the blank variant? There doesn't seem to be an image yet available. But I can only assume it looks like the Blank variant of Blade Runner Origins and Blade Runner 2029. Blank on both front and back cover except for the logo at the top.
Looks as if Issue 1 is getting delayed to August 10. At least my wallet can rest. I plan to grab that blank variant for sure. https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR221833
To say nothing about this all connecting back to Blade Runner 2099. Hoping Michael Green throws us a bone when he works on that show.
Yeah if this had been written by one of the writers on the show it might have indicated this as being a replacement for Season 2. As it is, at least this comic won't be throwing any five-minute clip shows at us, haha.
Damn that is awesome. Dunno whether to take this news as indication that Season 2 is definitely happening or this comics will just take the place of what they would have done for the show. But I'll take what I can.
One positive aspect I will say is that the show managed to surprise me. All this time I thought this was going the nihilistic and often boring way (when told badly) that prequels go. We know that Niander Wallace lives so it stands to reason that all these characters would die because he seemingly stands unopposed in 2049. I didn't factor Elle being able to cause his blindness (that I forgot about) and then escaping.
Biggest flaw in my mind was Joseph's conclusion. For most of the show he was a red herring and only in these final episodes did it start to feel like he was a character we could root for with that revelation about his past. Unfortunately they killed him off in a super imo, unnecessary way at a point way too early in the story. Wallace already implied as much that losing those archives wouldn't be much of a loss to him. So while I can understand his character's motivation for killing himself with all that guild inside, from a plot perspective it comes off very underwhelming and half-baked. I think Davis' sacrifice would have been more impactful. She got a lot of development throughout the show and like you said, her story really didn't go anywhere at the end. You could basically remove her from the show and it would still happen like it did.
Wow. As an episode I found it almost 100% fantastic. As a finale, well, a finale can only be as good as its buildup. And well what they built up wasn't really that intriguing. And sadly like you said they didn't really leave that many surprises. It was mostly things you'd expect to happen at some point like Marlowe and Joseph getting killed in the most Hollywood way possible.
Could this be an indication that we're getting future seasons of the show? I hope so. I think there's a lot more potential for this show going down the road. Guess we'll see.
Yup. A little dissapointed that it's not a full series order yet. As for Villeneuve, let's hope he's not too busy on the Dune sequel and spinoff.
Awesome. Ridley's tv prowess has never been as great as it has now so I'm excited to have Alien and Blade Runner on tv out right now. I can actually imagine Harrison Ford popping up because they can play around with the idea that his character is Deckard (who really is a replicant) or a replicant copy of Deckard, etc. Surprised though. I expected this to be an HBO Max thing and not Amazon. Though Amazon did great with Ridley's Man in the High Castle.
This is the stuff I wish were in the show much, much earlier. This backstory would have given the show some much-needed backbone earlier instead of just making us ambivalent/semi curious about Joseph. Definitely an episode I can finally show to my dad (a Blade Runner fan who stopped at the second episode) and be fairly confident he'll be interested all the way through. Finally sorta addresses Joseph's shooting of Elle earlier then suddenly patching her up, although that was still a very awkward plot beat.
Was it me or did they imply that they moved the date of the sale between Wallace and Tyrell? Or was that just an old magazine the cop was reading?
Clip shows were a remnant of the 90's that were phased out for a reason. This "episode" should have been a Youtube free release to invite new watchers and catch them up to the essential parts.
Now talking about Easter Eggs......Doc M is modelled after the current appearance of David Cronenberg, is he not? And I've always suspected that the number 1701 is a Star Trek reference they've been pushing for some reason. Maybe I need to wait for the Behind the Scenes book to shed some light on that.
At first I was dissapointed they didn't immediately have Elle confronting Joseph about his past, but since the episode gave us a lot more to chew on, I'll gladly let that hype me up for the future. Hoping these false memories have something more specific in mind than just random stuff Wallace put in to enact his plan. The angel and the landmarks seem oddly specific.
It did feel like the end of the first half. Happy that it finally has some answers and seems to be plotting a course for where that Nexus Dawn short picks up. As usual the action is exciting to see (for what little there is in the episode). The deep dive with the scientists is appreciated, but I still feel like they could offer a bit more. Not just in dialogue but even just in the background text details. After the first three eps or so, I didn't feel like they were able to put much effort into adding stuff to glean from the background text, though I guess that's a minor quibble.
