  • Cal Moreaux, now a detective with the LAPD, is assigned to investigate Kine's death, learning that a Nexus-5 prototype escaped the night of Kine's death.[12]
  • The Nexus-5 prototype, Nia Moreaux – hosting the consciousness of Cal Moreaux's sister – "awakens" a small militia of replicants seeking freedom. Cal Moreaux retires the Nexus-5, leading to the establishment of the LAPD Blade Runner Unit.[13]

  • Ash tracks down Yotun to a shop run by Mr. Malcolm, who supposedly deals in helping replicants disappear. Yotun manages to kill Malcolm and throw his body on Ash, allowing him to disarm her. He tells her to let her superiors know that she was defeated by a replicant and that he showed her mercy, further stating that she would never see him again.[18]

  • February 9 – Zhora is retrained for the function of political homicide.[7]
  • March 5 – Incept date of Keith Arem[19]

  • Tyrell releases a Nexus-6 model nicknamed "Lolita," which proves popular among the "dirty old man market."[1]
  • A mutiny staged by a Nexus-6 combat team occurs in the Off-world colonies, prompting replicants to be banned on Earth.[20]

  • Ash pursues the fugitive replicant Mack three months after his escape from Titan. She confronts him on a rooftop and shoots him, sending him falling into the street below. He escapes to a farm north of Los Angeles.[22]

  • October–NovemberSix replicants led by Roy Batty hijack a shuttle and return to Earth.[7]

    • Ash is assigned to investigate the disappearance of Isobel and Cleo Selwyn.[15] After recovering Cleo, Ash escapes with her to the Off-world colonies.[24]
    • Blade Runner Ray McCoy investigates a group of rogue replicants and humans led by Clovis.[1]
    • Blade Runner Dave Holden is assigned to administer Voight-Kampff tests to Tyrell Corporation employees in order to find the escaped replicants. He tests Leon Kowalski, who becomes violent during the test and shoots Holden.[7]
    • November 20[2] – Ex-Blade Runner Rick Deckard returns to his job to retire the escaped replicants led by Roy. He is first sent to the Tyrell Corporation to test the Voight-Kampff test on Rachael, an experimental replicant.[7]
    • Afterward, Deckard travels to the Yukon Hotel, where Leon lived, finding photographs and a scale.[7]
    • Roy Batty and Leon confront Hannibal Chew, learning that they can get to Eldon Tyrell through J.F. Sebastian.[7]
    • When Deckard returns to his apartment, Rachael is waiting for him. After a conversation about her true nature, she storms out.[7]
    • While pretending to be a homeless orphan, replicant Pris meets J.F. Sebastian, who welcomes her into his home at the Bradbury Apartments.[7]
    • Deckard analyzes Leon's photos, finding one of Zhora, his next target. He takes the scale to Animoid Row, learning that the scale was from a snake, which then leads him to artificial snake-maker Abdul Ben Hassan. Hassan tells him the snake was sold to someone who worked at Taffey Lewis' bar. From Lewis, he learned the snake belonged to Zhora, who was performing under the name Miss Salome. After watching her performance, Deckard waited for her and went to her dressing room, pretending to be from the "committee on moral abuses." Zhora sees past this and attacks him before running. Deckard gives pursuit, eventually retiring her in the streets.[7]
    • Leon attacks Deckard soon after, nearly killing him, but Rachael picks up Deckard's gun and kills Leon.[7]
    • Deckard and Rachael return to his apartment, where Deckard soon falls asleep. Rachael begins playing the apartment's piano, waking Deckard. The two share a tender moment, but Rachael suddenly tries to leave. Deckard forces her to stay and they have sex.[7]
    • Roy arrives at Sebastian's apartment. He and Pris convince Sebastian to take Batty to Tyrell. Upon arriving at Tyrell's home, Batty demands more life, but Tyrell tells him this is impossible. Batty kills Tyrell and Sebastian.[7]
    • Upon learning of the deaths of Tyrell and Sebastian, Deckard is led to the Bradbury Apartments. There, he is ambushed and nearly killed by Pris, but he manages to pick up his gun in time to retire her.[7]
    • Roy returns to the apartments and mourns Pris. He then playfully hunts Deckard, eventually forcing him to the roof. Deckard nearly falls to his death, but Roy saves him and reflects upon his own life before expiring. Gaff arrives just after, confirming that Deckard's assignment was done and saying, "It's too bad she won't live, but then again, who does?"[7]
    • Deckard returns to his apartment, finding Rachael unharmed. On his floor, he finds an origami unicorn and ponders Gaff's words before leaving the apartment.[7]
    • Deckard and Rachael escape Los Angeles.[20]
  • Unknown date – The first worldwide data linkup is announced.[4]

  • May – The Blackout: In the midst of a human supremacy movement, two replicants, Iggy Cygnus and Trixie, and replicant sympathizer Ren, in collaboration with the Replicant Freedom Movement, detonates an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) somewhere on the west coast of America, in order to erase the "Replicant Register", which has been used by a replicant-hating public to hunt down replicants themselves; the Blade Runner division has long been shut down. As a result, the world, mostly run by computers now, crashes. The pulse deletes or damages untold amounts of data and knocks out most of the planet's financial institutions and industries. In the aftermath, food supplies dwindle to a dangerously low level. No-one is ever caught or takes responsibility for the blackout, and as a result, a terrified populace scapegoats synthetics.[23]
  • July 17 – Incept date of Styles.[6]

  • March – Blade Runner Harper is assigned to investigate the Replicant Underground Resistance, who plan on obtaining and destroying Night Owl.[19]
  • A prohibition is placed on replicant production. All Nexus-6 models are decommissioned due to their 4-year lifespans. Due to the prohibition, Nexus-8 replicants are mandated to be retired, but some manage to go into hiding.[20]
  • Bannister is elected to the California state senate.[3]

  • After a Nexus-8 uprising, Ash is separated from Cleo.[24]
  • As part of a plan by Alexander Selwyn, Hythe assists a second Isobel Selwyn replicant in finding Cleo[9] and reinstates Ash as a Blade Runner.[5]
  • After Ash determines that Cleo is heading for Arcadia, Hythe reveals that she is being used. Hythe is killed by Isobel, however, and Ash leaves Cleo with Isobel so they can go to Arcadia while she returns to Earth.[9]

2028[]

  • The Wallace Corporation purchases the now defunct Tyrell Corporation.[20]
  • Ash helps Jac escape Los Angeles.[26]

  • c. – Ana Stelline, possessing a compromised immune system, is placed inside a sterile chamber.[2]
  • After returning to her career as a Blade Runner – whilst assisting replicants in secret – Ash is assigned to investigate construction of the Sepulveda Sea Wall, which according to an anonymous tip, has employed replicants.[18]
  • Ash's investigation uncovers a group of replicant revolutionaries led by Yotun, who carry out various attacks on Los Angeles.
  • MirrorWare Corporation copyrights a computer operating system.[27]

  • October
    • A "doll hunt" is arranged by Niander Wallace, Sr. to allow Arthur Bannister, Hayden Hooper, Doctor M, Earl Grant, and Josephine Grant to hunt down a group of subservient replicants.[29] Unknown to them, among them is Elle, a replicant created by Niander Wallace, Jr. to assassinate his father, employing the assistance of ex-Blade Runner Joseph.[30]
    • Elle wakes up inside a transport vehicle and sets out to discover her identity, beginning with an encrypted data device she carries. She defeats a gang as payment to Doc Badger to decrypt the device and he takes her to Joseph, who he feels is better-suited to the job.[31]
    • As Joseph begins to decrypt the device, Elle recognizes Senator Bannister on the television as someone who once hunted her. Taking the device with her, she confronts Bannister, who tells her she is a replicant. After a brief fight, Elle kills Bannister. She manages to escape the crime scene and police officers, but is shot by Joseph.[32]
    • Elle wakes in Joseph's apartment, where he determines she is not a replicant by examining her eye and subjecting her to a Voight-Kampff test. He data device is later decrypted and she finds footage of the doll hunt.[33]
    • Elle fully recalls the hunt and vows to find and kill those involved, with Joseph's help.[33]
    • Alani Davis, who had spotted Elle leaving the scene of Bannister's murder, performs research on Elle which convinces her she is a replicant. Chief Grant urges her to leave the case alone.[33]
    • Wallace Sr. learns from Earl Grant that Elle survived the hunt and promises that she will be eliminated.[11]
    • Grant, refusing to confirm that Elle is a replicant, assigns the police department to hunt her down. He privately asks Blade Runner Brook Marlowe to join the search.[11]
    • Joseph helps Elle identify Grant from the hunt footage.[11]
    • A SWAT team searching for Elle raid Doc Badger's shop as Elle makes her way to the Grants' apartment.[11]
    • Elle interrogates Josephine Grant, learning that she and her husband were invited to the hunt by Doctor M. Soon after Earl arrives, he attacks Elle, a struggle that ends in the deaths of both Grants.[34]
    • Davis soon arrives at the apartment to attempt to arrest Elle until being interrupted by Marlowe, who pursues Elle throughout the apartment. Elle manages to escape by causing an explosion in the kitchen.[34]
    • Elle returns to Joseph's apartment, where Davis soon arrives. As Elle hides, she overhears Davis referring to Joseph as an ex-Blade Runner and leaves the apartment.[29]
    • In an attempt to distance the Wallace Corporation from Elle's killings, Wallace Sr. plans to sell the Tyrell properties.[29]
    • Elle finds Doctor M's lab, where she is captured. Doctor M and Goodman examine her memories, finding that she recalled some of them differently than they were programmed and that some were created by an unknown party.[29]
    • Elle escapes her restraints and before killing Doctor M, she learns that Wallace Sr. had organized the doll hunt. She also learns from Goodman that a memory she had of being with a supposed boyfriend by a pool was legitimate.[29]
    • Officer Davis summarizes her investigation to civilian police oversight investigator Alan Chen.[3]
    • With Joseph's assistance, Elle gains entry to the Wallace penthouse and confronts Wallace Sr. A brief struggle ensues, ending in Wallace's death and Elle's escape.[35]
    • Joseph tells Elle about Selene, a replicant he developed feelings for during his time as a Blade Runner. He then has Elle create a sketch of a man from her memories, which he recognizes as Wallace Jr.[36]
    • Wallace Jr. creates Water Lily.[36]
    • Joseph asks to be released from his arrangement with Wallace and suggests to Elle that she have her bad memories erased. Upon reaching Goodman's lab, they learn that there is no safe way to remove these memories without removing all of Elle's memories. She is put into a machine for this procedure and Joseph assures her he will be there when she wakes. Although Elle cannot hear him, Joseph confesses his involvement with Wallace and leaves.[30]
    • Joseph reports to Wallace that Elle has been retired and is promised arrangements to emigrate Off-world. However, Wallace does not trust this report and assigns Water Lily to kill Elle.[30]
    • Joseph asks Officer Davis to arrest and protect Elle, but does not tell her what from. He then calls Marlowe and asks him about Black Lotus.[30]
    • As Elle tearfully recalls her memories with Joseph, Water Lily infiltrates the lab and mortally wounds Goodman. Just before he dies, Goodman stops the memory-erasing procedure. Water Lily cuts the machine and Elle slips out.[30] The two fight until LAPD officers arrive, prompting the two replicants to escape.[37]
    • Elle encounters Davis in an alley, but flees as she is distrustful of Davis' offer for help.[37]
    • Davis goes to a Vid-Phon booth to report Wallace's involvement in the Black Lotus case, but is stabbed by Water Lily before managing an escape. Water Lily calls Wallace, who asks her to not pursue Elle and instead return to him.[37]
    • Marlowe goes to Joseph's apartment, where a fight ensues, ending in Marlowe's death. Elle comes to the wounded Joseph's aid and the Elle promises to end the conflict.[37]
    • Elle infiltrates the former Tyrell headquarters to confront Wallace, but finds that she is unable to attack Wallace. Water Lily attacks her and the two fight.[38]
    • Joseph plants C4 explosives in the replicant manufacture wing until he is found by Wallace.[38]
    • Elle and Water Lily reach the replicant manufacture wing and continue to fight until Water Lily is disarmed, leading to Wallace killing her. He offers Elle a place at his side and Elle again fails to attack him. She feigns submission before managing to slash out Wallace's eyes.[38]
    • Joseph closes himself in the room and detonates the explosives as Elle escapes.[38]
  • November
    • Davis returns to work and assures she will cause the department no further trouble.[38]
    • Wallace promises "limitless possibilities" for the Wallace Corporation.[38]
    • Elle heads into the desert on Joseph's spinner bike[38] but shortly after, she is shot down.[39]
    • Elle defeats her attackers and takes the damaged spinner bike to Fracktown for repair.[39]
    • Elle is taken in by ex-Blade Runner Miguel Roman of the Inland Empire Clean Energy Co-Op, which is engaged in an energy struggle with Emile Barnes' fracking business.[39]
    • The Wallace Corporation confiscates replicants employed at the Golden Garter, a brothel provided for the fracking workers.[39]
    • Barnes' cousin and head of security, Kozlov, leads an attack on the Co-Op, capturing several of its residents, including Miguel's wife Nyoko and daughter Kaja. The group fails to assassinate Miguel and Elle. The captives are forced to work for the Golden Garter.[40]
    • Negotiations between Miguel and Barnes fail, so Elle successfully rescues the prisoners. Barnes' factory is destroyed along the way, killing him.[41]
    • Fracktown turns against the Clean Energy Co-Op until Elle makes Kozlov confess to his and his cousin's misdeeds. With the town in the co-op's favor, Elle leaves in search of more answers in the desert.[42]

  • Niander Wallace upgrades genetic engineering to produce a new model of replicants, biorobotic beings that are more compliant and obedient than their predecessors.[20]

2036[]

  • Niander Wallace meets with Los Angeles lawmakers in order to demonstrate the obedience of the Nexus-9 replicant by having one cut himself and choose between taking his own life or Wallace's. The Nexus-9 selects the former.[43]
  • Replicant prohibition ends. The Wallace Corporation publicly releases the Nexus-9 replicant model.[20] Luv is among the first Nexus-9s.[28]
  • Lilith Tyrell establishes Lilith Labs.[6]
  • An edition of the New American Dictionary is published.[4]

  • All professions deemed inappropriate for humans are replaced by Nexus-9 replicants, from prostitutes to Blade Runners, the division of which has been reopened.[20]
  • To contend with global climate change, Los Angeles constructs the so-called "Sea Wall" to contain the rising waters. Human-Replicant tensions continue to escalate.[20]

2048[]

  • Sapper Morton visits Los Angeles to sell nematodes to Sultan, but is given $1,000 less than he needs. While leaving, he witnesses a group of men attempting to sexually assault Ella and her mother. He kills the men and flees, but accidentally leaves behind documents identifying him as a replicant, which a man finds and calls in.[45]

2049[]

  • June 30 – Blade Runner and Nexus-9 K retires Nexus-8 Sapper Morton outside of Los Angeles. He discovers a body buried underneath a dead tree and, upon further analysis, reveals that she was a pregnant replicant. Ordered to destroy all trace of a replicant giving birth, K finds out from the Wallace Corporation that the replicant was Rachael and begins his investigation into Rick Deckard and the child. Luv is ordered by Niander Wallace to find the child in order to unlock the secret of breeding replicants.[2]
  • July 1 – K interviews former Blade Runner Gaff in the hope of finding Deckard's location. While downtown, K is approached by Mariette whom subtly questions what he knows about the child.[2]
  • July 2 – K returns to Morton's and discovers a child's sock and photograph, as well as the date 6/10/21 inscribed on the dead tree. He burns the home to the ground. K meets with his superior Joshi and explains his implanted memory of him as a child hiding a toy horse in a furnace.[2]
  • July 3 – At the LAPD headquarters, K reviews the DNA records for a child born on 6/10/21 and finds two children, a boy and a girl, with the exact same DNA. Figuring he could visit the orphanage where the children were processed, K heads to San Diego and finds the orphanage after he and, unknowingly to K, Luv fight off scavengers. Mister Cotton shows K the ledger of recorded children, but the pages for 6/10/21 are missing. K realizes he has discovered the location his horse memory takes place and finds the toy in the furnace, exactly where the memory showed it. K reveals to Joi the information, and Joi deems him special and calls him "Joe."[2]
  • July 4 – Joe visits Ana Stelline, a memory maker, who determines that his memory is of a real event. Joe begins to break down, believing he is the child, and is subjected to a baseline examination by the LAPD, which he fails. Joe reveals to Joshi that he took care of the child and is allowed time to prepare for his next and final baseline. Joe returns home to find Joi invited Mariette to serve as a sexual surrogate for Joi. Later, Mariette places a tracker in Joe's jacket. The two decide to flee, and Joi makes Joe put her inside his emanator, allowing them to leave without being tracked. Joe and Joi meet with Doctor Badger to determine where the toy horse came from, discovering that it was Las Vegas. Luv demands Joshi tell her where K went, but she refuses. Luv kills her and finds out from the LAPD database.[2]
  • July 5 – Joe and Joi head to Las Vegas, finding signs of life as well as meeting Deckard for the first time. They fight, but then relent and converse about Rachael and Deckard's role in the child's life. Luv and Wallace Corp attack and capture Deckard whilst killing Joi. K is found by the replicant resistance movement and taken to safety by Mariette. Joe meets Freysa, who reveals to Joe that he is not the child, and he must kill Deckard to prevent Wallace from knowing the resistance's and the child's whereabouts. K figures out that the child is actually Ana Stelline.[2]
  • July 6 – Deckard is interrogated by Wallace, who attempts to find the child by giving Deckard an exact copy of Rachael. When this fails, Luv prepares to take Deckard off-world to torture him. K interacts with a large Joi hologram ad and realizes he must make his own decision. He decides to intercept Luv, kill her, and save Deckard. After doing this but severely wounded, K lays down on the steps outside and Deckard meets his daughter for the first time.[2]
