Ray McCoy's KIA

The Knowledge Integration Assistant (KIA) was a handheld computer used by Los Angeles Police Department Blade Runners to keep track of evidence, suspects, and clues in their investigations. They could be given an upgrade that allowed the user to upload only select clues to the police mainframe.

History[]

Blade Runner Ray McCoy used such a device during his investigations in November 2019.[1]

By the 2030s, each KIA was biolocked to one user and it would sync data with any terminals belonging to that user.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The KIA was introduced as the user interface for the 1997 Blade Runner video game. In addition to its in-game use, the game's options are accessed through the KIA screen in the original PC release.
