Mead was a veteran of Kalanthia who formed a private detective business with her comrade, Stix.
Biography[]
During the war, Mead and Stix went AWOL, embarking on a suicide mission. This put them at odds with the military and gave way to rumors that persisted during the following years.[1]
By 2015, Mead and Stix resided in Tokyo and had earned something of a reputation for themselves.[2]
After a scuffle with a local gang, the pair stopped at a takoyaki stand, where they were approached by Sayo, a young woman in search of her missing sister, Miyuki. As they discussed the circumstances of Sayo's disappearance, Stix dismissed himself, fearing Yakuza connections, though Mead remained with Sayo. She learned that Sayo and Miyuki's parents had rivals who were potentially behind the murders of various business associates, which were rumored to have been carried out by a replicant.[2]
Mead visited Miyuki's fiancée, Alura, learning that on the day of her disappearance, she was hired by two "official"-looking people with Tyrell Corporation identification. Feeling that the Higashi-gumi owed her a favor, Mead went to them, only to find them all dead, with very precise-looking wounds.[2]
An American Blade Runner, Rumika, soon arrived in Tokyo in search of a rogue replicant. She visited Mead, asking if she knew the whereabouts of her target, believed to be Stix. She gave no information, but when Miyuki turned up murdered, she assured Sayo that Stix could not be responsible.[3]
While investigating Sayo's apartment, Mead and Rumika learned that Sayo had ties to Cheshire. As Mead inquired about Rumika's true reasons for being in Tokyo, Sayo was shot by an arrow. Mead went to her aid, removing the arrow only to find that it was too late. After Sayo died, Mead saw Stix flee the scene, but told Rumika that she saw no one.[3]
Upon examining Sayo's body, Mead commented on the killer's stealth and precision and that Stix could not have been responsible. She found taxi receipts and pocketed them before dialing a phone number.[1]
Rumika later visted Mead in her office, asking about her and Stix's suicide mission. She was reluctant to give much information on the matter, though stated that Stix was the most human of any replicant she had met.[1]
Mead secretly met with Stix, who asked for her help in rescuing a replicant he saw kidnapped by the Yakuza and taken to Cosmoworld. However, Mead warned him that Rumika was after him, prompting his dismay to learn that Mead was working with a Blade Runner. He left the meeting and Mead chased him until he caused a structure to collapse behind him.[1]
Mead went with Rumika to Cosmoworld, where she caught Alura following them. Upon seeing a body in a pile of garbage – believing it to be Stix – Mead flew into a rage, mercilessly fighting a group of men that has surrounded them. Upon seeing Stix very much alive, Mead shoved Rumika, who stated she was no longer after Stix.[1]
