The Moon was a celestial body orbiting the Earth and the site of one of the first Off-world colonies.

In the 1990s, when Earth began to start dying in resources and atmosphere, the UN, supported by the newly formed corporatocracy, initiated the Off-world Colonization Program, choosing the moon and Mars as the first sites. Not long after, the spaceports were flooded with people who sought to flee Earth and escape off-world, but few of them actually made it. The first colony on the moon was still active as of 2037, though it was now primarily used as a spaceport rather than a habitation complex. It was used as a transit hub for the colonial import/export business. The moon was also a major protein manufacturer, where a large portion of the planet is paved with terraformed biofarming plants shipping protein to Earth or other colonies.[1]
