Rumika was a Blade Runner who was active as of 2015.
Biography[]
Rumika was of mixed ancestry, born to Japanese parents in Los Angeles, where she was also raised.[1]
By 2015, she worked as a Blade Runner for the Los Angeles Police Department and was sent to Tokyo to track down a rogue replicant, identified as Stix. The local police advised she question Stix's confidante, Mead. Mead provided no information about Stix, but shortly thereafter, Miyuki, the sister of Mead's client, Sayo, was found murdered.[1]
Rumika and Mead investigated Miyuki's apartment, learning that she was involved with Cheshire. As Rumika began to explain her true reasoning for being in Tokyo, Sayo was fatally shot by an arrow. Mead told Rumika that she saw no one.[1] Upon examining the body, Mead told Rumika that the killer was stealthy and precise and could not have been Stix.[2]
Later, Rumika reported in to her superiors and was informed that Cheshire had acquired a group of Tyrell scientists. She was given orders to arrest the scientists and kill them if they gave any resistance. She went to Mead's office, asking her about her and Stix's suicide mission during the war. Mead gave very little information, but commented that Stix was the most human replicant she had ever known.[2]
After seeing Mead chase and fail to catch Stix, Rumika accompanied her to Cosmoworld. After finding Alura following them, Mead found a body in a pile of trash, causing her to fly into a rage, fighting a group of men that surrounded them. Upon seeing Stix, Mead shoved Rumika, who insisted to her and Stix that she was no longer after him.[2]
Rumika slipped away to find the ex-Tyrell scientists. However, as she confronted them, she was interrupted by one of Alura's Yakuza. Rumika was taken to Alura, but this was really a trap, as one of her men bombed the building they were in. However, Rumika survived and emerged from the rubble to find Mead. Mead told her of the Aurora Program, which sought to create a reproducible replicant bred for killing. Mead allowed Rumika to seek out the program to destroy it while and and Stix would track down those who leaked it.[3]
