Ruth Tyrell was a replicant created to be the wife of Anson Tyrell, another replicant designed to be Eldon Tyrell's brother.
Aboard the Salander 3, Ruth and her husband bore twin daughters, Sarah and Rachael. Eventually, Anson grew mentally unstable and attempted to kill Sarah, prompting Ruth to place Rachael within the protection of a transport sleep module before he successfully killed Ruth. He took his own life shortly after.[1]

Rachael, a replicant created by Tyrell using Sarah as a templant, came into possession of a photo supposedly depicting Sarah and her mother.[2] Since Ruth was killed when Sarah was an infant,[1] the identity of the woman in the photo is unknown.
