Split?[]
I'm beginning to believe that Howie Lee and the Sushi Master are not the same character. The RPG (which takes place nearly 40 years after BR) mentions a "Howey Lee" (I'm not sure if "Howie Lee" has been spelled out in any official literature, but I think it's safe to assume they intended them to be the same character) who runs his own restaurant bearing his own name. A few more reasons for doubt:
- The in-game model for Howie Lee bears no resemblance to the Sushi Master in the film. Now, this could be due to them not being able to get permission to use Bob Okazaki's likeness, but Gaff's model still looks like Gaff despite not actually bearing Edward James Olmos' likeness. Howie Lee doesn't even wear the same clothes as the Sushi Master.
- Howie Lee speaks clearer English than the Sushi Master, but that could just be a result from having a different actor
- Bob Okazaki was nearly 80 years old when he appeared in Blade Runner. If we assume his character is about that same age, that would make him around 120 in 2037. I'm not sure what the life expectancy is in the BR world, but I highly doubt it's anywhere close to that. Howie Lee looks younger than the Sushi Master.
I think the answer is that they are two different guys that work at the same place. After all, the RPG also says the White Dragon is open 24/7 so I imagine there'd have more than one sushi master.
So with that said, I'll probably split the articles apart soon, unless someone puts forth some definite evidence that the Sushi Master and Howie/Howey are the same guy. Special Agent Dale Cooper (talk) 22:12, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
